ok so I got a job at a rehab hospital as a Rehab nursing tech(CNA) and i'll be working nights.
starting pay is $12 and then there is a shift differential of 15% because of nights... so thats $13.80 and i'll be working every other weekend and the weekend differential is 30%.... so my question is... would the weekend diff be added onto my night shift diff to make it a 45% diff for working weekend nights? or would it be just the 30%?
plz help, im sooo confused and i like to look ahead so im already adding up the money to see where my bills go and other things of that nature so i'd really like to be on point..
this will be my first CNA job, i just finshed the trainning and passed the test at the start of may sooo yea i have no idea about any of this and i've never gotten shift diff at any of my other jobs (book stores and none profits)

I would wait and see what your check gives you what with all the deductions and stuff. Or you can call payroll and ask. They won't mind telling you. But I believe that each differential is based on the base rate.

I get a differental for working evenings and I get a differential for working weekends. When I work an evening thats on a weekend I get both differentials.
Best thing to do is ask your payroll dept. They will be the best ones to tell you your hourly rate on the nights you work and on weekend nights.
thank y'all sooo much, i'll probably wait it out and see cuz those deductions do put a dent in paychecks... im actually scared to ask payroll lol, idk why but i don't wanna call them up and ask at all... im such a chicken
You better get over being a chicken about such things. How will you ever get a mistake in your paycheck corrected if you are too scared to bring up the subject? All employers will not pay you for mistakes in your check unless you bring it to their attention.

sweetcynic, if you don't mind my asking, how are the benefits at this job (i.e., health insurance)? And do they offer any tuition reimbursement?
And congratulations on getting the job!
^^^ True, I never even thought of if that way :redbeathe

Thanks for the info sweetcynic! There's a rehab hospital near me (I'm in Mass also) that I'd like to apply to, so I was really curious what the payscale and benefits may be.
