I am currently on a waiting list at Kellogg Community College for the part-time ADN program. I have been on the list for a year now. I suspect it is going to take another two years to get into the program and then another 2 1/2 years to finish. I have a 4.0 GPA so grades are not an issue.

Does anyone know of a part-time program at any of the four-year universities in my area. I live close enough to Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Holland, Lansing, or Battle Creek to commute. Or maybe a community college that has a short waiting list or takes into account your grades.

I have heard that Grand Valley State has a part-time program.

I must go part-time :uhoh3:

Thank you for helping me with any information that you have.

I'm not sure about part-time programs at the universities. You could probably go to their web sites & get information about that.

I do know that KVCC recently started a part-time program in addition to their standard program & some students have been able to start nursing school much sooner.

Good luck!

Lansing Community College has a part time program. Unfortunately you just missed the deadline for this fall (May 1st), but they are moving up the deadline for next fall to March. They admit 32 part time students for every fall and the program lasts 8 semesters which goes through the summer.

LCC does not use a waiting list, you have to reapply every year if you do not get in. They use a point scale to base who gets in. The total amount of points possible is 90 points; you get x amount of points for gpa, credits taken, previous degree, work experience, residency. Last year 70 points got you accepted and they say the points goes up about 4 points each year so this year 74 points should be the minimum to get in.

Hope this info helps.

Go to www.allnursingschools.com you can enter the state and look at all nursing schools in the area. If I'm not mistaken, Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Ferris State, and Grand Rapids Community either offer no waiting list or part time. Check them out. Hopes this helps.

Yep!

I have known a couple of students that went part-time to GVSU. Just know that you'll need to take quite a few more classes before starting the nursing program at a university.

The best way is to call the schools and speak to someone in the nursing department and put in your inquries. I know @ KVCC they just started their part-time program (as someone previously mentioned) in Allegan. So, just get out there and make those calls. There is a program out there for you.
