PHCC or Rasmussen??

Published

I just got out of the military and decided to switch careers to something that has more of a future.. well long story short i am finishing up my last pre-req this semester and the after talking to my adviser today she explained to me based on my completion date for pre-req and deadline for applying for the program at PHCC i wouldn't know i would be accepted into there program tell end of next year basically is what she told me. Also she told me with the school switching to a state college there are going to be growing pains because the school technically has to redo its accreditation process which possibly could hold up the nursing program next year tell its done..

I currently hold a 4.0 on my pre-req's and plan to start studying for the TEAS test..

Since i am on Post 911 GI BILL i can go to Rasmussen with no financial burden but is it worth it? i ask because i choose to go to PHCC because of the ratings of there nursing program i found around the internet being fairly high.. and finding things about people stating that Rasmussen isn't a real nursing program and its frowned upon on graduates..... but i figured i ask since most of the stuff i found was a few years old and things may be different.. is Rasmussen considered a Joke once you graduate and on the market trying to get a job?

I am a Rasmussen graduate and I got hired for a job and most of my classmates did as well. The problem with Rasmussen is because it is an ASN program and its kinda new the clincal sights have been tough cause most hospitals are aiming for bsn nurses but the NPR location I heard was really establish and had good clinical sites. When I went to Rasmussen I had to study, do projects and so forth so its ultimately up to you, the experience you make of it and you studying hard

i see on there site that you can get your BSN through them, im near the NPR campus actually

You can.....option is yours but a lot of us are going cheaper route to a state school because your credits do tranfer with no issue with Rasmussen as well

so there is issues of credit transfer for Rasmussen?

No not at all. My credits tranferred to a state univeristy with no problem or oddity. Rasmussen is regionally accredited so the credits from that school transfer with no problem

i was hopeing for input from others..

Question: I talked to someone today and they explained to me that Rasmussen is only accredited in the state of FLORIDA AND MINNESOTA.. that if i get my degree from them in the nursing program that i cant take it out of those 2 states.. if this is true couldn't i start the program at Rasmussen and then when i do get excepted at a better college or national accredited college i just transfer over and finish the remaining of classes..

Nursing classes don't transfer, you have to pick a program a stick it out to the end, check further into their accreditation, it should say on their website exactly who they are accredited by and then you can look up that agency, however FL & MN aren't even in the same "region" site that doesn't exactly make sense about the license only begin accepted in those two states.

Specializes in Adult Nurse Practitioner.

I have a friend who teaches at one of the Rasmussen ASN physical campuses. She explained that although Rasmussen is regionally accredited, the classes may not be accepted if you attend an out of state college for your BSN or MSN. They are working on full accreditation but it takes several years to show a track record before you can even apply. Hope this helps.

I graduated from the Fort Myers campus with Rasmussen. I moved immediately after graduating to pensacola, and although it was slow going with a job, no questioned my degree. I am now working with no problems.

I go to rasmussen in NPR right now and I love it so far. It is definitely hard work and not a joke. My brother in law just graduated and is working in Georgia making $26 an hour which is pretty darn good for a new grad. He got a job right away. I definitely recommend the school
