PETH testing

Hi, I am new to monitoring and am scheduled to take a PETH test today. I have quit drinking all together, not even worth it. My 60 days was January 3rd. This will be my first PETH test and I'm nervous over cinnamon rolls, donuts, lotion and perfume? Crazy, that I even have to stress over these things. Has anyone had any experience with these items or any advice? Thank you in advance.

Ease up on the perfume and lotion.  If anything on the bottle says alcohol of any kind, don't do it.  Use something else.  As it relates to the Peth Test, you will be fine.  Perfumes that contain alcohol (most of them) are more likely to trigger a positive Etg (urine test for alcohol) and not a positive on the PETH Test.  Your test will be negative, but better put a no-go in the future on perfumes that contain alcohol.  It only takes a bunch of perfume use and an early onset UTI for you to trigger a positive on a Urine Based Alcohol Test, so put the breaks on the perfume.  Your PETH will be negative.

As for 60 days on Jan 3rd, I'm not sure what that means?  Sober for 60 days?  In monitoring for 60 days?  Got married 60 days ago?  Etc.  If it means you have been sober for 60 days without drinking alcohol, the PETH will be negative.  Careful with cinnamon rolls that contain vanilla extract or anything containing vanilla extract because that can possibly (low risk, but possibly) trigger a positive urine alcohol (etg) but it will not effect a PETH test.  Your PETH will be Negative you can rest assured.

Good luck.

Your welcome.  Congrats on 60 days of recovery!!!  Well done my friend and you got this!  You have taken your life back and have awesome things ahead.  Well done.

You would have to consume/use an excess amount of these things to produce a positive Peth as well as a positive test for alcohol in your urine. Just try to avoid things like Kombucha, poppy seeds (I know someone who popped positive for opiates d/t consuming significant amounts of poppy seed bagels), and you should be fine. The amounts of "cooked" vanilla extract that are used in traditional baking goods are not going to cause you to be positive.

Careful there because many people know that alcohol (often rum based) in vanilla extract is deactivated when it's cooked, so no worries there, BUT...........the problem rests in the Icing that is NOT Cooked and that can get people nailed. Not all vanilla extracts contain alcohol (rum) but many do, and when used, it's sometimes not just used for a cupcake itself (which is cooked) but also sometimes used in the Icing, that is not cooked.

In the rare event that someone tests positive for alcohol due to cupcakes or birthday cakes etc. It will Not be the actual cake (middle part) that gets them. It will be the icing.

Thank you so much!! I passed my PETH test, received results Saturday. My mind is at ease now. And I can prove to people I wasn't lying about not drinking. I have so many more questions about dos and donts with this type of testing though. I am so new to it. Thank you again!!

Hello,  I was wanting to get a pedicure and manicure but unsure if it will affect my urine screens and/or PETH tests?  Also, I did urine screen on Monday 01/13 and I still haven't received my results?  It's through Recovery Trek and they have been being posted the next day?  I haven't changed anything, but I started taking Mary Ruth's Organic liquid daily am women's multivitamin with hair growth.  I was told I could take a multivitamin daily by state board without doctor's script or acknowledgement.

I use lotion and never had a positive test. I do avoid donuts and anything with icing or frosting

Thank you, my PETH test was negative and all the UAs I have done have been negative, but I just done one Tuesday and haven't received results yet via recovery trek and that is unusual. Has me stressed.  I started taking an oral liquid multivitamin for women, Mary Ruths Organic for hair growth and took an allegra, a plain allegra, not the one with decongestant.  According to my board paperwork, I am allowed MVIs and my doctor knows about the allegra.  I haven't had any alcohol and I do not do drugs at all.  This stuff is so stressful and I have 3 more years, I could just cry again over the worry.  I really am trying.

Has anyone heard of them testing for nicotine? Random question because I pulled option 17 today and when I Googled 17 panel (I know they have their own panels) it had nicotine listed. There is no way they test for this too? Can't wait for this to end.

Sometimes it takes awhile for results.  Read the vitamin ingredients. Monitoring is awful

I smoke and never got any notice of a positive test. I don't think they care if we use nicotine. Their test options are probably different than what you Google.
