Peth test

Experience please.

I have been sober for 6 months and had a slip up 8/8. I had 3 glasses of wine and a shot after being sober 6 months. I got a white chip and have started over. Well I was required to take a Peth test 8/22 14 days later. Do you think this would show up? I know it says 3-4 weeks for heavy drinking, but it was one night w 6 months of prior abstinence.

PLEASE do not respond with a lecture or anything besides experience with Peth testing. I know the mistake I’ve made and am already really beating myself up

Hi,

I am a pilot who got a false positive peth test. During my research I’ve found Nurses have an unusually high occurrence of them. I’m slowly getting quite a library of good evidence showing it’s just plain not reliable.

Ill be going to an arbitration hearing soon to dispute my termination based on that peth test. So many of your stories are so similar to mine, I’d love to talk to whomever is will to, to find similarities, patterns, what ever.

The short story here is:

26 June ETG/ETS negative, random test.

1 May ETG/ETS, positive at 117 ETG, negative ETS. Considered abnormal, and my creatinine was over 250. Ordered a peth.

9 May PeTH positive at 98. No drinking ever...

16 May PeTH negative at LOD 20.

16 May hair etg negative, six month coverage.

17 May PeTH negative at LOD 8.

20 June hair etg negative, 3 month coverage.

And a year before and after randoms all negative.

One of these things is not like the others...

Mike

Seems like you might have gotten wasted late April, diluted your urine with heavy water intake, then took too much  Creatinine to cover up the dilute. Your ets was negative due to the dilute and etg was the true indicator. The following peth tests further support this as the levels gradually declined from that time bc you have not drank since. The hair test can not compare to blood and honestly, this whole scenario and timeline only validates the peth I hate to admit. I’m in a recovery program for alcohol so I’m not putting you down-I’m just being real and would like to be able to take your side on this

I have a question!! I was a casual drinker and all was good. I did have a couple of rowdy times about 9 days ago. I've had nothing since. My ex wants a peth test which I can put off til directly after court, 2 weeks from now. Is that enough time so I will pass? I would consider those 2 fun evenings to be way too much to get by with but this is unexpected. He has done this to mess with my job. I think it's too soon. I may be able to put off for another week but he is going to push this to mess with me.

I know some of the test kits can be tainted or just a bad batch. That is true with just about everything in the world. I had a positive etg test and I had done one on myself before going in. It was sent to a lab and it came back negative. Therefore, the team threw out the entire box and considered them to be unreliable. If If If you had ONE bad test, this would seem to be true for you.

He failed two

In 2019 did a 5k run on St Patrick’s day had about  4 22 ounce beers after the run  last time I drank prior was September 2018 pulled for a peth 17 days later failed got suspended again which actually ended up being a good thing as I was able to go on vacation live my life for 4 months and my second consent agreement was better, not as strict, and less time than the first one ironically enough, I have now have a full unencumbered license  done thankfully with the board, I truly feel for all of you.
