What is per diem nursing?

How does it differ from other types of nurse work i.e. full time, part time etc.?

Thank You

Per Diem, or PRN nursing- just means that you work "as needed".

You make more per hour being a Per Diem nurse then you a do a full time or part time employee. However, you are always the first to be canceled, and you do not get benefits with this position. Its a very flexible nursing job.

Some places require that you need to work one weekend a month or 2 shifts a month to stay active in their system.

Hope that helps!

We call it flex around here. You basically pick when you want to work. I worked flex while going to school and was only required to work one weekend a month. I didn't get any benefits but made $3.00 more an hour than the other part and full time staff. Facilities differ in what thier requirements are, one place I checked into you only had to work one weekend every 90 days. I really liked working flex, but now that i am done with school I will be going to part time!
