My professor tests on our preparation of material before her lecture. She gives us a powerpoint and uses many abbreviations. Can anyone here tell me what "TTT" may stand for in a powerpoint on the renal system? She uses the acronym three times with very little contextual information. When I googled it I came up with time, temperature, and transformation, but I really don't think that makes sense, so I'm looking for other possibilities. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have NO idea. This is why the use of unapproved acronyms is a big deal with The Joint Commission. I ahve given you two good sites for medical acronyms but you may have to e-mail your instructor.

Thank you. I did email the instructor. I wish she was as quick as all of the helpful people on this site. Sometimes I think she makes up her own acronyms to save time making the powerpoint, but it certainly does no good for the quiz before the lecture.

That is why you will hear a lot about the "approved abbrevation list" that hsopitals utilize as per The J.C. recommendations.....using unapproved abbrevations can cause serious mistakes. I'm sorry I wish I could help.

Well the instructor emailed me back late yesterday. According to her, TTT means treatment. I would have never guessed that. Esme12, interestingly enough last term the instructors really, really stressed the importance of approved abbreviations. I really think the instructor just uses her own "shorthand" in her powerpoints.
