I am not really sure who mandates it but I do feel your pain. My school has set the passing grade at 81%. Now this normally would be a B in most school's but at mine its the lowest C possible. Most of our tests are 25 or less questions so it does not leave much room for error. We are only graded on tests and occasionally if we did our homework which is only an extra 2 points.
There is no make up work or extra credit work. The only thing we do have the option of is taking our worst test score and retaking that test, but then it will be graded between the two test scores, not taking the highest score.
Our lowest passing grade is %77, the lowest C you can get. But at the start of each level we have to take a math/ nursing calc test, which you have to pass w/ a 85%- fail it twice and you're out. One girl who was on honor roll 1st level came back for 2nd and ended up failing both tests by 1 point. When we approached our director about how messed up that was, she told us she didn't have any control over that, our accreditors do.
I'm sorry but I don't think it's right to mention the school name here...let's practice our HIPAA
Out of curiosity, what does HIPAA have to do with school name's? A lot of people come here for advice on which schools they would like to go to and which they would rather stay away from.
If it wasn't for these boards I would have gone to a school I know I wouldn't have been happy at, but due to some peoples posts here about a certain school I was able to choose a school that was more suited to my needs and wants.
So just curious.. :nuke:
I just used that term for privacy...you see I'm still in school and most of my schoolmates and classmates are members here...I don't want to discredit my school also.I would gladly tell you if you send me personal message.
I don't blame you then for wanting to keep it private. :) You through me off with the HIPPA .

Hi...my school had set a 85% passing grade for level 3... I got 84 and will have to do a retake test and some remedials. I just want to find out who mandates the passing grade? is it the board? I heard when the school has a low passing rate for NCLEX (which my school fall under) they are asked to raise their passing grade.I feel bad really especially that the school is holding us for this.
