Hi All.... For all of you out there that have taken NCLEX twice and failed I feel your pain. I too had failed twice and went for my third attempt on Oct. 13, 2009 and PASSED! Here is how I did it. First you have to change your attitude, have confidence I know it is difficult especially after seeing FAIL twice but you have to have faith in yourself that you can do it and you want to become a Nurse. Ok then you have to have a different game plan. The first time I studied on my own, did not work 110 questions on NCLEX Failed.... Second time studied by Suzannes Plan again did not work for me, this time 265 questions on NCLEX Failed....Third attempt used Virtual ATI and Kaplan, 120 questions on NCLEX Passed! So my best advice is to use ATI and Kaplan together. ATI makes you learn the material and understand the concepts. You can not beat around the bush and not know the material. If you do not understand the whole concept of a disease that the question is asking you probably will not get it correct. ATI give you lots of exams online and an instructor to give you extra questions on concepts you are not understanding. Kaplan I thought was good also it helped me with strategy. I did not use the decision tree but I guess some find it useful. I went to both ATI and Kaplan review courses several months apart but found both useful. Now I also purchased the Kaplan Medications in a box and went over some of those every night. I also work full time and have a 5 year old son so for all of you that work and have families YOU CAN DO IT! I spent at least 2-3 hours a night after work to read, take a practice exam and review some medication cards. Another must it to know the Labs. You will be much better off knowing the labs. So anyway that is all of my advice. For all of those looking for scores... On ATI I had a 63.3% on my Predictor exam which came out to be a 94% Pass Rate on NCLEX. Kaplan Scores were:
Diagnostic 67%
Question Trainer 1 61%
Question Trainer 2 64%
Question Trainer 3 58%
Question Trainer 4 57%
Question Trainer 5 61%
Question Trainer 6 62%
Question Trainer 7 60%
Readiness 69%
So there is all of my advice hopefully it will help atleast one person to pass NCLEX.... I think most important is that you have to believe in yourself, if you go into NCLEX thinking your going to Fail you will. Good Luck to everyone on second third or more attempts at NCLEX it is brutal but YOU CAN DO IT! ;)
