passed the NCLEX RN

:yeah:Hi everyone, First, I have to thank those who posted encouragements on the forum. I read some of them before I took my 2nd NCLEX RN exam on Dec 2009. I finally passed it and got my license on Christmas Eve. It is the best Christmas gift in my life. Yeah!

I want to share some of my experience about taking the NCLEX here.

(1) Infections/ Precautions control is a MUST. You have to know the different types of infection transmittion modes( airborn, contact and droplet) and thier precautions( gloves, masks, open/close door...).

(2) Lab values is a MUST. I wrote them down on the paper the center provided before I started answering any questions.

(3) Don't worry about the time you spent for one questions. You have to make sure you choose the best answer. If you get the right answer, then it will be a question of high level of your next one. You will see a question with BOLD word. That is what I guess so. (I did little of such kind of questions in my 1st time, but I almost did more than half in my 2nd time. I totally did 102 questions in my 2nd time and I spend around 3 hrs and 45 mins to do so)

Hope such sharing can help ppls who will take the same exam soon. Good luck to everyone. Happy New Year.

Hi 918runnr,

I only used the Kaplan online Complete Qbank and its online reviews. However, I wrote down all the rationales I didn't know or understand on cards. Then I studied the cards everyday. I did the 50 questions from the Qbank and studied all the cards everyday. You MUST make sure that you are fully understand the patho of every diseases you don't know. It is because all the related nursing cares and symptoms are based on that. Besides, I studied those topics that I didn't understand the most in the beginning first. It helps me to have enough time and energy to overcome the difficulties. Hope it helps. Good luck.:redpinkhe

Congratulations.

Congratulations. I passed on Dec 3rd and it was indeed a great present. I had a ton of infection control questions too but not that many lab value questions. Now you can enjoy New Years Eve.
