I am a new grad (1/14/14) and a brand new registered nurse (passed nclex 3/1/14). I work in the medical field on the business side (for a large group). I have experience with direct patient care having been a HHA for many years prior to my now 8 year long career. My plan was to transfer to the nursing department here, having seen many people move from clerical positions in clinical positions as well as having knowledge that new grads are indeed hired here. Once I was notified of my passing I sent an email(that is the policy) to HR notifying them that I am interested in one of the many positions we they had listed internally and requesting the opportunity to update my personnel file with an updated resume as well as my license.. That was a week ago and still no response not even an acknowledgement of receipt..What should I do I don't want to seem pushy, but....
Any advice on job hunting ??

Congrats on passing NCLEX. I'm also a recent grad and am having difficulty securing a job, so if you already work in a health care facility you definitely have an advantage. On average most of my friends that worked in health care facilities got hired as RN's in their facility about 3 months after passing NCLEX. If you don't hear back from HR go there in person and update your personnel file and submit your updated resume to the nurse recruiter. Good luck.

Congrats on newly passing the NCLEX. Now, I wouldn't have put my eggs in one basket. I would apply EVERYWHERE to maximize your chances of landing a job. You have been working at your current employer for a while, could you not speak to someone internally?
I actually have spoken to the HR recruiter directly, prior to my even graduating and upon receiving my license, she was the one that advised me to email my request to her assistant, I certainly am not putting all my eggs in one basket and have sent my resume out to several places. I was just wondering how long is too long to wait?? I would love to stay here, however if another opportunity knocks I will be answering

It sounds like you are making all the right decisions. Stress-wise, it is certainly easier to look for a job while you're still employed. But I encourage you to be very clear with your current employer - when you receive an satisfactory RN job offer, you plan to accept it. Don't let them keep you dangling with the promise of a 'maybe' job.
