Part time HH RN

Hello,

I just wanted to get some opinions. I have a one year old son and my husband and I have been running into problems with child care. We decided it would be best for me to go part time. I interviewed for a large home health agency and will be shadowing someone in a few days. I'm looking for some flexibility in scheduling and looking forward to more time with my son. I'm worried that I'm going to be working long days on the days I'm scheduled. Just wondering if hh is a good avenue for me in my current situation . I would like to work 3 days a week. Thank you!

This is something you are going to have to work out with your employer. It is up to you to make certain that they are clear on what you are willing to do and you must be clear on what their expectations are. If there are any ifs, ands, maybes, or buts now, best to find a job somewhere else before you and the employer butt heads over unmet expectations.

I did mention my desire to work three days a week. I plan on asking more questions when I shadow. I was just wondering if anyone finds this type of work to be flexible with having a family

It can be, once you're proficient. Getting there learning on a part time is basis is a pretty hurdle. Works better for experienced and efficient HH nurses.
