Paranormal phenomena?

Anyone had strange or unexplained things happen to them during student clinicals or in their nursing career? I tried to locate other threads like this and came across one about strange phone calls.

As a student, I was doing my Transitions clinical on a cardiac floor of a major hospital. One day I had a strange sensation of someone stroking my hair, and no one was there. It gave me goosebumps, but strangely I wasn't afraid.

Just recently as a new RN, I had a patient who was totally immobile and bedridden due to advanced Alzheimer's and needed complete care. Her call light kept going off over and over, and there was no way possible that she could have been pressing the button. I would go in and shut it off, and before I could leave the room, the light would be back on again. This happened about a half-dozen times in 5 minutes. I talked to a co-worker about it, and she said that this happens on their floor sometimes, even in rooms that have no patients.

Anyone else with similar experiences?

The explanation is more than likely a mundane one, like shorting going on in the wiring system.

what's "paranormal"? i've shared a few ghost stories -- check out the link up-thread. and i think sometime we all have a "sixth sense" when something is about to go wrong with our patient. and sometimes i've gone to answer my phone just before it started to ring. there's an elevator in my building that seems to be possessed. and there was that precognitive dream . . . .

i even believe in ufos. the loch ness monster. bigfoot? maybe.

a friend of mine believes in absolute evil, and shares the story about a patient she had to care for. he was comatose the whole time, but she says she just knew he was evil; she could feel the vibes eminating off of him. now that scares me!
