I have friends that work L and D at Saddleback and they really are happy there. I have talked with people who had their kids at Mission in Mission Viejo and they had a great experience. Stay away from Irvine Medical Center due to poor quality of OBGyn and Hoag nurses are very clicky among their own. I would tour saddleback and see what you think.

As far as places to live, Mission Viejo was ranked the number 1 safest city in the U.S.
Thank you both for the information! Does either of you know about Fountain Valley Hospital?

I am an OC L&D RN. I second that you should avoid Irvine Regional. I am working registry right now and have just done 4 shifts in two weeks at Fountain Valley. They are BUSY! Very nice staff, though. Everyone has been helpful to me. It is Tenet. They are also not at all baby friendly and still have a true nursery without couplet care. I don't think I would like that full-time, but the nurses are nice and I will gladly continue going there as registry. Are you experienced? Procare is a good registry. It would give you a chance to "look around" so to speak! Good Luck!
I agree with Janey. FV is very nice to registry. I am not a specialty nurse but have been floated to newborn nursery etc. Tustin has some nice areas to live but I still have a condo , 3 bedroom, 2 full bath, inside laundry, fireplace, hardwood floors and excellent facilities inside the loop in Woodbridge in Irvine. I feel completlely safe there and have lovely neighbors, including an Irvine cop a few doors down.
Janey, how was your experience with IMC????? Do you like your registry? I'm coming home on Tuesday for a month, maybe I will run into you guys!!!!
