I would suggest a good read on the forum here. There is no need for an agency when applying to Canada. Also Canada does not have many openings for their citizens so there are limited opportunities.

As mentioned have good read
The cap for RN has been reached for this year and will not open until next year if they are on the list. There is no need to go with an agency as the forms can easily be completed by yourself and you just need to find a employer. You need to be aware that it currently isn't as easy as many Canadians are struggling for work

You can apply for next year since the cap has already been reached. There is no need for an agency. Everything can be done yourself without having to spend your hard earned money.
You can do all your research on the CIC website. Everything you need to know will be there:

Thanks for the information guys but Im doing my own research now..I prefer to have an agency coz Im currently working and dont wanna hassle myself with the documents..
The documents are 4 pages ish long and take about 20 mins to complete. The agency will require you to find and complete the same forms so why pay them when you are doing the work?

Hi, silverdragon, about the canada nursing cap, i originally understood that since it is closed for this year, new applications will be accepted only by july 2012. However, when I visited the Canadian embassy site of Manila, it says the embassy has a backlog of FOUR YEARS for immigrant processing. So my question is, how can they have a 4-year processing time for immigrant applications when there is now only a 10,000-cap (500 for every job category) WORLDWIDE? Four years seem to be a long time to process 10,000 papers worldwide, right? Could it be that we do not need to wait for July 2012 to file, and that the embassy just receives applications on first-come-first-served basis? Thank you for whatever enlightenment you can give us. God bless!!!
Here is the excerpt by the way:
"Skilled Workers, Entrepreneurs and Self-Employed
Applications can be expected to be reviewed only 48 months (four years) from the date we acknowledge receipt of a complete application. 80 % of the cases are currently being completed within 62 months. For new applications, a letter acknowledging receipt will be sent within four (4) to six (6) months from the date the application is received, including a receipt for the processing fees."

There does appear to be a difference in processing times, main CIC website indicates 15 months for applications recieved Between 2005 and 2008 for the Philippines

Many countries used to have long waits to be processed and it has only been in the last 2years that things have changed and for many improved waiting time however those applied before the change tend to be still stuck where as those applied after the change move forward. Also a lot will depend on the demand from the country and we have seen an increase for Canada since the US started retrogression in 2006 in the same way we have seen an increase in Australia
