open toe shoes for interviewing?

It's been a while since I've been on an interview and I have a few coming up and I was just wondering if open toe shoes are a bad idea to wear to the interview? I will be interviewing for ICU and ER positions. My instinct is close toe, but I have a really great pair of heels that gave a peep toe. If I don't wear those I will probably end up in my Dansko clogs because I'm having a hard time finding close toe dress shoes this time of year.

Walmart always has $12 pumps. You're better off in those than a peep toe, I think. But then, I am from the dark ages.

I think peep-toe would be fine. I would avoid anything that looks like a sandal and is too strappy, but something that covers most of the foot and just shows a little toe is fine. Just make sure you wear panty hose.

I think there are other more important parts of your appearance than shoes. Is your skirt too short? Are you showing cleavage? Does your make-up look like you're interviewing to be a clown?

My point is, if you present yourself as a professional, it's not going to matter if you're showing a little toe or not.

My suggestion is if your peep toes look more like "going out" shoes then No, I personally wouldn't wear them. Its hard because each person conducting the inerview has their own perceptions, and one may not notice or care but another may. I would want to be on the "safer side" so that nothing about my appearance distractacts the interviewers attention from how perfectly right for the position I am. Good luck!

Peep toes are okay, especially if not a sling-back and not super high.

In my opinion, you can never go wrong by going more conservative for an interview.

Thanks everyone! I decided to go conservative (which is my instinct anyway) and actually found a really cute pair of flats at Target that I can wear just randomly after the interview also. Thanks for the feedback though!
