Online statistics?

UTA at Arlington! got to have either college or intermediate algebra though!

if you pass your competency on math upon entering school you should be able to take stats without a prereq.

or you can consider just taking CLEP for statistics

get a tutor and a study guide book on stats and then register through collegeboard.com at a facility near you for CLEP

earn the credits without the class =)

CLEP is just an exemption exam that proves you know the material and dont need to take the class and just recieve the credits for it.

Ive done this for intro to psych, intro to soc, and about to do intro to history.

Rio Salado in arizona is awesome. I failed stats in class, then took Rio Salados class online and got an A! It is all open book, Open notes, but I actually was interested and learned! You do need someone to give you the test and I was out of state student, so it was like $300. But I had to pass class to graduate, and I did.

I read on the syllabus it was not a proctored exam and there are 2 prerequisites.

Last Sunday's WSJ carried an article about statistics which is apparently the new *hot* college major. Places cannot keep up with demand no matter how many classes they add.

This demand for statisticians is supposedly being driven by the immense amout of data companies and businesses now generate and or receive due to various Internet sources. Think about all the information collected by Google, Facebook, Yahoo and almost every other website from both information given freely plus what is recorded just from visiting a site, and you'll get the picture.

So this post is late, but may still help others. I recently found myself one statistics course away from finishing my BSN degree. All the community colleges required that I take algebra before admitting me into statistics. They would not merit completion of Algebra II, from high school. You could take a placement test, and would need to place in the highest bracket in order to be eligible for statistics. I eventually found that Grand Canyon University (Grand Canyon University is a private Christian University in Phoenix, AZ) offers statistics in a 5 week course. They have courses starting up every couple weeks. There is no pre requisites, and the entire class is online, no proctored exams. Simply work through the course material, participate in discussions, do excel worksheets and provide thoughtful answers/explanations for questions found at the end of select sections of the text book. Wasn't necessarily easy, but allowed me to maintain a working schedule. Definitely recommend it to others.

did you take this course there? Or you just hear it? I'm looking now statistics class for prerequisite. I want online ? and without proctored final in ideal)
