online programs for lpn to rn feedback

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

Im from Hawaii, im an lpn/lvn. I'd like to take a course online for LPN to RN but im not sure who to trust and if hawaii will accept an online college. Has anyone done the online course and did it work out for you, was it legit, did hawaii approve it?

I cant find any work here anyways (kauai) so i figure I might as well be productive and go for my RN.

I cant seem to find the answers Im looking for so I figured I'd:bugeyes: check here. Help, i just dont know where else to look.

PS I called state of hawaii but they acted as if they didnt even know what i was talking about.

Thanks

First off thank you for the reply to my post.

Ive looked at excelsier, and Ive heard many people say good things about them. Im seriously thinking about it. Bu heres the but, Excelsier says i need to check with hawaii state boards to see if they approve it.. Well hawaii doesnt call me back and they seem to not know anything...

Thanks so much again, your awsome for replying...

Hawaii BON accepts EC without any problems. Realize when you call the BON you are getting a career gov't employee with minimal motivation to assist you.

if it's not explicitly stated somewhere in the BoN policies i'd get something in writing to be safe. that way you're covered if they give you a hard time later on down the road.

This is not a bad idea but probably difficult to get. I personally wouldn't really worry about it as there are several EC grads working here that I know of personally.

Thank you both so much, I feel much better about this.

Except one thing, Do you really think I can learn all that an RN needs to know from an online college..

I remember my first nursing school, lecture was everything to me, its where I got most of my info .. and Im just afraid without the clinical time will i really know what im doing?

Honestly, what do you guys think?

It most certainly is not a program for everyone. You must be HIGHLY motivated and able to learn in a non-traditional method. It is up to you to arrange clinical time in any areas you feel you need additional experience.

The EC students/grads who tend to do well are those with very strong clinical experience in an acute care setting. Also they tend to be working in such a setting so they can incorporate what they are learning through EC into their workplace.

Good luck in your decision!

CC

Yeah I get what your saying, so true.

thanks

I am a EC graduated and I worked in a clinic setting while going through the program. If you are a new LPN with no experience it maybe more difficult.

I also agree with the other posters you have to be self-motivated to complete this program.

Good Luck!
