online nursing classes

There are RN to BSN and RN to MSN programs online. If you are in school already some courses may be offered online but most community colleges don't offer nursing courses online if that's what you mean.

I just graduated from a community college with an ADN doing what they call a "hybrid" program. All nursing lectures were online (power points with audio); clinicals and preceptor were set up the same way as a traditional program. My nursing instructor was available for questions and concerns throughout the time, so I never really felt "alone".

There are many benefits to doing it this way ~ I had an easier time being able to work and still see my kids, and it was awesome to have the ability to access lectures at any time of the day or night.

You have to be highly motivated to learn in this way, as there is less "spoon-feeding" by instructors. It is necessary to take a very ACTIVE role in the learning process. It certainly isn't for everyone, but everyone in my class agreed we wouldn't have done it any other way.

Nursing school is tough any way you slice it. I hope you find a way that works best for your situation!

I went to a community college in the midwest. They have a hybrid program for LPN as well as RN.

I'm not sure if other colleges are doing this.... my best advice would be to check in your local area to see if it's available. I had no idea it even existed until I poked around.

I did my LPN to RN online through a pilot program here in our state last year. Just as OP said, my clinical time was scheduled, etc but all lectures, assignments were online. The flexibility was great, but you have to be seriously motivated to do the classwork. I was required the first semester to travel 6 weekends to the hospital where my school was based to do clinical time on-site with the instructors. The rest of my time was at a local facility the college had contracted with. It worked great for me (wife, mother to 3, etc) but I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone.
