Online BSN

0I'm looking for an online BSN program. I don't have a previous bachelors nor am I an RN.

I have applied twice to UTA's online program. They waitlisted me and then didn't take me. Now they waitlisted me again and I'm nervous.

I just need something convent for a single mom with a fulltime job!

If you're not an RN your program will not be 100% online.

^^ What she said. You will need to do clinical hours at a hospital. For level 1, my school requires (2) eight hour days per week. In level 2, we have (2) eight hour days per week, and (four) 12 hour shifts, level 3 is (three) eight hour days per week, and level 4 is 10 weeks of (2-3) eight hour shifts, then 6 weeks following preceptor on whatever their scheduled shift is. The schedule is picked by the school and non-negotiable. This is just for an ADN. Your job would have to be very flexible and accommodating.

I would also be very wary of online nursing programs. Very, very wary. I wouldn't bother with any school that is not FULLY accredited, either. Just be careful. A lot of these predatory schools target single mamas, full time workers, and others that are perceived to be short on time.

I agree with the above posters. You cannot do a full RN program 100% online. You have to be present for clinicals, SIM lab, physical assessment, skills labs, etc. I second what UnicornMagic said about accreditation. Don't fall for a predatory for-profit that costs 75k, gets you in to tons of debt and you have a useless degree.

I guess I should have mentioned my understanding of clinical and lab hours for any nursing program. I'm definitely aware and understand the need for clinicals and labs. Attending a hospital for clinicals is fine by me. Attending the university for labs is okay too. Just wanting a program that does lectures online.

UTA does lectures online and I'm currently waitlisted there. They do clinicals in the DFW area. I was previously waitlisted and they didn't take me that semester. This is the only program I have found that does lectures online. I've taken pharmacology and pathophysiology online and I did fine. Online classes don't bother me and I am still able to understand and hold onto most of the information that I learn.

I was just hoping there was another program similar to what UTA is doing. I work full-time as a CNA/PCT at UT Southwestern and I am a single mom to a 5 year old. I have a lot on my plate already so if I could at least take away the time of sitting in a lecture course then it would save me some hours in the week to make it through all of my responsibilities.
