OCCC Spring 2015

Hello,

Is anyone applying for the nursing program at OCCC in the spring? I turned my application in this past Monday, 8/11. I talked to the nursing counselor, so I might be able to answer some of your questions. She only sees 5 or 6 people a day. It's going to get worse as the deadline for the spring gets closer, which is some time around labor day. Couple of key facts that I can share:

  • Point cut off last semester (Fall 2014) for alternates was 16. She said if you have 17 or 18 you have a good competitive chance at getting in.
  • This is the last time that Pharmacology, Medical Terminology, and Nursing Overview will be used for preference points.
  • She told me that I could earn a CNA by attending a 2 week course. I don't have the information in front of me but I can look for it if anyone needs it.

    I'm crazy and impatient I know....I was reading the forum for Spring 2014 and figured out that last year apps were due on Sept. 6th and they got their acceptance emails on like Sept. 25th. Ours were due on the 5th so if they are as fast this year we might know this week?! Fingers crossed :)

    Has anyone talked to admissions? A friend of mine said that someone there told her it would be 4-6 weeks not 3-5?? I tried calling twice but all I get is the recording.....
