NY to CA

Hi fellow nurses, quick question for anyone here who has made the move from NY to CA..how do you like it? Do you regret the move? How does the cost of living/salary compare? Im currently working as an ED nurse in NY, & we get on average 8 to up to 15 patients in 1 shift. I barely if ever get a break. Management is cut throat but having the union helps a little. The expenses are really high in NY & I can't stand the cold weather. I have an opportunity to move to California, so I wanted some input. Thanks!

Anyone?

I havent made the move from NY but have lived and worked in Calif. Expenses are also high in Calif but that also depends on where in Calif you are planning to move. Do a little research online on home/rent expenses etc on the area of California you are planning to go. Also, some places in Calif are cold too. Its a big state with many diverse climates, advantages and disadvantages. Calif does have mandated ratios so it helps but it is still not perfect. Hope it works out for you the way you want!

There was just a huge, lively debate of the pros and cons of living & working in CA last week. You may want to do a search for that post. There were tons of comments.

if you hate it and don't mind moving, then why not
