My heart dropped because I almost thought they sent the emails. I’m sooooooo nervous.

I check That page on FB frequently. They sent that post at 11pm! Good catch Jess

For anyone who might not have Facebook, MEC just posted this a little while ago:

“Nursing admissions decisions are being finalized. Please check you’re student emails regularly and get the checklist( listed in your acceptance email) items finished as soon as possible.”

OMG. Maybe we'll know by the end of the week??!!

Just out of curiosity, will we all find out at the same time?

I am in my first semester taking the the pre-reqs now....I heard that you must get A’s in PSY and BIO 141 classes to make it into the program. Is that true? I plan on asking the TEAS tests in the spring to hopefully start in the Fall of 2020. Do you recommend waiting until I take B&A 142 to help better my scores on the TEAS (or does that class not help with the tests?)

Thanks for your time and good luck to all.

The things they look at are your PSY 230 grade, BIO 141 Grade TEAS results, and if you took any of the co-requisite courses. Having A's in both the PSY and BIO pre-requisites will generally move you to the top of the list. However, it is not the only way to get to the top of the list. Your TEAS scores and co-requisites can also have a significant impact on your position in the rankings.

Lol yeah I have a feeling it’ll be a bit delayed. Someone asked on Facebook if there’s any update and they said none yet because they’re a bit behind. I’m still checking my email every 15 mins nevertheless ?

They should be done and are getting things ready to notify students. Notices could go out within the next 32 business hours. Which means between tomorrow and Tuesday at the earliest. If they notify us first we will normally post on FB that they have started sending out emails.

32 “ business” hours( counting fingers and in my head) lol. I guess they’re getting us ready for med dosage calculations because I was trying to figure out what happened to Monday. Thank you MEC.

So I went to the transfer fair today. Did anyone else go? I narrowed down my choices to Mason, Grand Canyon and ODU. Mason's process seems the simplest in regards to their application process. But GC classes start every 5 weeks I believe. Anyway I was excited to find info. Basically you could graduate NVCC and have maybe a class or two left and get your BSN. However(Lord willing) I get in the program, I rather wait and see how it is before applying to the RN to BSN track. I rather soak up and retain all the NVCC nursing info and be the best I can be before adding stress but it was good to find out the info. I think the transfer fair is annual.

Thanks for the info! I have been meaning to see if anyone was able to attend the transfer fair. How is Mason's application process simpler compared to the other schools? In terms of competitiveness, does it differ if you are applying for the co-enrollment BSN programs, or would it be the same as applying for traditional BSN?

For those who have or currently doing this route, could you share your thoughts and experiences? What is a realistic goal in terms of course load and maintaining school-life-work balance? Is work even feasible in nursing school?!

I found It completely hard to study for TEAS and taking Bio 142. 141 was easier for me but 142 requires lots of critical thinking because you have to know how systems work not just where they are in the body.

I'm not sure if A&P classes are formatted differently, but when I took the ELI course sequence, we definitely covered the physiology aspect of it right alongside anatomy. The systems are divided between the two courses, so you may be missing out on half the preparation without 142.

That being said, IF TEAS requirements remain the same and you are allotted 3 per year, I suggest taking the TEAS in March anyway. By then, you'll already have covered most of the systems, so it may only require a bit of self-studying. You'll be working with a fresh memory and you're also doubling your opportunity to apply without waiting too long in between.

You'll find practice exams on ATI's website, which is definitely pricey but invaluable IMO. If you dig deeper, you'll also find an 80-question A&P practice test. The practice tests cost almost as much as the actual exam, and you are only allowed one retake before completely losing access to it. Treat the tests like it were the real exam and use it to gauge and fine tune your preparedness. Nothing beats test anxiety better than taking that test 4 times.
