Nursing Program (masters)

Published

Hey everyone,

I am currently applying for nursing schools in California and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I narrowed it down to Western University, Loma Linda, and Azusa Pacific. I am currently finishing my BS in Biological Sciences and wanted to do the MSN-E program for those schools. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get started? What I need to do and/or just any pointers? thank you so much!

Sincerely,

Lilly

I would start out applying at all three and make your decision after you get acceptance letters.

Lily-

You need to go to the schools' websites and do this research yourself. It isn't hard to find all this information out. Just go to the school's nursing page and have a look. There will be a huge difference in cost from Cal State to the private schools. If you will already have a BA or BS, you may want to looke into the entry level MSN programs as well. It is a good one at CSUF. Good luck to you.

Moved this thread to the CA forum since it is specific to schools located there.

Lilly, there is no way around the 3.0 GPA to get into APU school of nursing. It would be great if you could get your sciences (anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and microbiology) done before you apply (but not necessary). In reviewing the applicants we look for GPA, science grades, work experience and leadership. We do not admit to the nursing program straight from highschool. We look at the first semester college GPA (3.0 needed) to enter the program. Not sure what you mean by job opportunities. Many of our students work as nurse assistants after they have completed their first medical surgical course. Professor Chandler

masters entry programs in nursing are VEEERY competitive. i'd be surprised if anyone got in with less than a 3.0 gpa.
