Nursing Job Application

Can someone clarify these job application questions?

Hi fellow nurses,

Although I am new to this page, I have instantly become an acute reader of unique contents and  support on it.

Currently, I am applying for a job within some specific organisations and as required, I am to submit a statement that answers what they called person specifications. I am entirely new to this approach of applying for work. I am able to write and support with examples some of the items listed, and  sadly, for others even though I have idea about it, I cannot put it in a way that clearly demonstrate how I meet those criteria. I would love to have support and feedback.

Some of the areas I have challenge include

  • Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues.
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice.
  • Understanding of research/audit.
  • Understanding of resource management.
  • Understanding of education/student requirements.

I look forward to reading from you all. Thanks

To help better answer your question.  What kind of job is this for?  This is for a bedside nursing job? Are you suposed to answer each of the bulleted points or are these just the skills you need for the job?

Thanks for not only taking time to read, but wanting to help too.

Firstly, it's an NHS UK job for bedside nursing.

Secondly, I'm required to answer each bulleted element, demonstrating how I meet them.

A brief background - there's a person specifications attached to job ad ( which has a number of items like I've put up for help) and I'm asked to provide evidence how  I match or meet those bulleted points.

HI:

I am not in the UK so my answer might not be the best, however, I think if you approach each of the bulleted points as talking points. Just think of all of the things you have done as a nurse, any time you precepted, were a resource, any study you were a part of, any nursing organization.  Don't try and overcomplicate it.  Think of things you might have done for patients and/or family

Thank you ☺️. I appreciate your view.

I'm also not in the UK ? But here's some suggestions.

For  evidence-based practice, you could give an example from your nursing practice, such as "removes foley catheter post op day 1 unless otherwise indicated", or "utilizes maintenance bundle to prevent CLABSI"-just a couple of examples. You could easily draw from evidence-based practice on preventing HAPIs, infections, identifying and treating sepsis-so many things.

Up-to-date knowledge- do you subscribe to any nursing journals? Attend conferences, belong to professional organizations?

Be concise and be prepared to speak to your examples during your interview.

Good luck!~
