Nursing classes wait-time at CNM?

U.S.A. New Mexico

Published

Since the recent changes made to the nursing program, how hard is it to get into that first nursing class at cnm? Has anyone had experience with that? I heard it filled up in 3 min or less :/. How many tries/semesters did it take you to get registered for it? How many credits did you have at the time of getting into it? (Just wondering because the more credits you have the sooner you are allowed to register giving you better chances of getting in)

Try 3 seconds or less. I was able to register at the first time and I clicked that button the second my atomic clock struck 6am...and I was 20th on the WAITLIST! So basically my internet connection was just that much slower than apx 45 people who were able to register before me, by fractions of a second. If you don't have the earliest registration time I guarantee you have no shot of getting into CNM's nursing program now. I have a Bachelors degree already so loads of credits, not sure how many you would need to get that first slot. Even with an early registration time the competition is absurd and it's impossible to guarantee you'll get in. If you have a high GPA and Hesi score, go for UNM and you can opt out if you're fortunate enough to register at CNM.

Good luck!

You would need to call the school, I don't know much about their admission process. Good luck!

I was given a registration date & time for Spring 2015. I was told by person in Nursing program that all approved applicants get the same registration date & time. Was given 10/30/2014 @ 10 am. Program filled up within 5 minutes. I had all my prerequisites and had hopes of getting into program for January 2015. Since I didn't get in I decided to apply to a Bachelor of Nursing instead of taking my chances of waiting to apply again in Summer and not get in again. Due to financial aid requirements of taking 6 credits minimum I wotld have not met that @ CNM. I have heard others have been on waiting list for years. I had a coworker suggest I look into applying to other programs because he told me about program filling up in minutes. The application deadlines for other schools in New Mexico are near CNM application dates. Had I known this before I would have applied to other schools sooner. I am happy that I got accepted to Brookline Bachelor program and will look forward to starting a Nursing degree program as planned in January 2015.

Heard applying to UNM is harder to get into. One person I knew applied 3 time with high GPA & didn't get in. Decide to apply at Grand Canyon University & and got in on first try. I was accepted to Brookline College they are an accredited program. With the issues I learned about getting into CNM program since the program changes you would think CNM would consider expanding their program.

Hey marchuleta98!

I see that you were accepted to GCU and Brookline. Sorry if I completely missed this in your post, but did you decide to attend Brookline or GCU?

Hi marchuleta98,

I went and spoke to a Brookline College and was thinking of attending that school. I was wondering if you decided to attend that college?
