Nursing Books

Hello everyone,

I'm soon going to start nursing school in 2012. And my school said the books are going to cost around $900. :uhoh3: So I was wondering, which websites did you all [like to] buy your books from?

Thank you all in advance!! :):redbeathe

You are lucky your books only cost $900.00. That's awesome.

Mine were $1800.00. Yuck!

Amazon.com is the best place, in my opinion, to buy books. They also offer Amamzon Prime for Students which gives free shipping and other perks. At the time I signed up it was free.

i hear half.com is good, too.

I always check Amazon for textbooks before buying them from my school bookstore, I have saved hundreds of dollars with them! I had prime for students too, but my time ran out :(

I always bought my books from Amazon.com. Saved me a lot of money!

Yikes! Yours was that much!! I'm gonna stop my complaining!lol Thanx for your input!!:)

Get the ISBN number of the text then google for used books. You probably can get along with the previous edition, not the most recent. Also, in my state the schools were mandated to have at least one copy of every REQUIRED textbook in the library. I took great notes in class and copied stuff from the library book, but of course I did not have it to study with at home. Another option is to share with a classmate. We did that our senior level. My study group either pooled money or each person bought one of the books and we all shared at study group. So there are options. Sure is expensive, huh?

Wow, that's some GREAT ideas!! Thank you Classicdame!!! :D And yes, the books are definitely expensive! I nearly had a heartattack when I saw the prices for the first time! But now that everyone gave me some good websites and you gave me great options, i should be fine!! My school said that the books for the semesters after the first one should be cheaper, because we are gonna use some of the books from the first semester! Whew!lol Now that I got the book issue resolved, all I have to do is buy the uniforms, stethoscope, etc.

Compare the book's price with online book sellers. I always try to buy used if at all possible. Sometimes the professor requires a code that comes with the book. Used books have the code used so you need to buy a new book. If you use Amazon, sign up for student PRIME.

Amazon will waive shipping fees for the first 6 months you are signed up. Further, if you want to upgrade to overnight shipping, the cost is minimal. Saved lots of $'s using Amazon Student Prime--which is not the normal Prime.

wow you're coming off good. mine will be around 1400 and that's not including the recommend materials. But I will OP amazon is good place to look.. I priced my books and they would cost half of what the school is charging.

I shop around on probably every single website that sells used books! Yes, it is time consuming but I save tons of money. I have also been known to buy older editions and international editions. No problems.
