Nurses are Overworked

 Where I work I run into Nurses all the time. They are dedicated, caring people. I see them stay after hour after hour.

They stay til the end. I admire their compassion and concern for Patients

Amen!

We could organize with a union such as UAN. Then adminastration would take us seriouse and we would get decent working conditions.

Thank you for the kind words of appreciation. I needed that.

May God bless you and your family with good health.

A union could work, but:

1. It would have to be a nationwide union because facilities will pay outrageous wages to scabs vs. giving up a small raise.

2. The union must have CNA's, techs, LPN's, ADN RN's, RN BSN... This is where the hard part is in the hen-house pecking order of nursing culture. Most nurses I talk to do not want the "lower" (lack of a better word) levels in their union. Sounds silly, I know.

Why #2 ?

Without including everyone in the union it mutes the effectiveness. There will be a certain amount of people who cross the pickett line, and likely many military medical personnel assigned to the facility.

An effective nurses strike would be a truly terrible but effective thing.

...Your patients are saying "you don't look well...why don't you sit a while.

Hard to balance home/work. I used to feel guilty for taking a few days off because staffing coordinator will call and plead to pick up a shift.

You have to take care of you first, before you can adequately care for your patients
