Hi, this thread got no love in the educator forum, so I'll try here.. fire away!
I'm a nursing student who loves to be in the lab. Could anyone tell me of any titles or jobs of nurses in the labs. I got my whole class wondering the same thing. I'd figure it would be beneficial to certain companies to employ somewhat of "crosstrained" nurses, or is that not true?
Thanks for your help!

Bumping because I'd like to know the answer to this, too. I love working in the lab. :) Sorry I don't have any information though, just a student myself.

I think my microbiology teacher told me about Infection Control Nurses. I too enjoyed worked in the lab, specifically micro lab. I'm interested in knowing what else is out there too!

I earned a biology degree before going to nursing school, and worked in labs. During nursing school I returned to the lab -- one of my nursing professors was doing molecular/genetics work in the study of heart disease. If you have a PhD in nursing, you can frame your research questions around problems that require laboratory work (ex. problems of physiology).
This type of experience will not benefit you in bedside nursing, but it will be invaluable with an advanced degree. If you're not doing so already, I would recommend working at any lab on campus (not necessarily one affiliated with the nursing school) in order to gain skills/experience in that area.
