Nurse Residency Program

Featured Replies

You need to narrow that down a bit. A lot of hospitals "out west" have good residencies. What states are you looking at?

I was thinking of Colorado or maybe Utah- I am applying to the nurse residency program through UCHealth. I honestly don't have much direction beyond that, unfortunately... I know that there are great hospitals in California/other west coast states. I have lived in Massachusetts my whole life and am ready for a change in scenery ?

MA native and grad here. Went to Phoenix, then San Francisco, then the Pacific Northwest. I’m here to tell you, consider Seattle. Washington state was among the first in the nation to mandate insurance to pay for deliveries to freestanding midwifery centers (1980 if memory serves), and they have excellent midwifery services in several hospitals. It’s a beautiful city with great opportunities for nurses, and not as expensive as the bigger cities in CA, too.
Portland OR is also a great choice. The med center there is top-notch and strong for nursing.
Both are beautiful, very comfortable for MA natives in terms of social mores, services, and public transportation, and the weather is better, LOL.
