Hallo Nutella,

my name is Jane Ross. Perhaps I can help you with your English although It looks like it is already very good. I am 27,from New Zealand but have been living in London England for the last 4 years. Would you like to write to each other to improve your english? or you can ask me questions? I would like to ask you a few questions too if possible!!

Let me know if this is Ok and if you understand everything that I write!

I am currently working in an Oncology ward in a private hospital . I really like working in Ooncology, we give chemotherapy here and look after patients in all stages of cancer treatment from recieving radiotherapy to the last stage ( dying). what about you? where are you working and living in America?

I Imagine it is very different to Germany. I lived in Berlin for a few months und ich kann ein bisschien Deusch sprechen. I had a German boyfriend you see, but now I am single. Ich werde gern in Berlin arbeiten aber Ich weis nicht , wie ich kann ein job finden?. Do you have any advice? Do the hospitals advertise jobs ? are there websites where jobs are advertised?

Well I hope I can help you a little and good luck!!

all the best, liebe Grusse

Jane.

Please do all of your postings in English. It is actually a requirement for Allnurses.com as we have members from all over the world, but the moderators do not speak all of the languages and it makes our lives so much more difficult to try to moderate this forum. :)

Thank you and welcome again............... :Melody:

Hello,

first of all: I passed the English exams (very happy about that!).

Do you hold a license in Germany? There is a forum which can help you with some of your problems: http://www.krankenschwester.de .

You have to check wether you can convert your license, because U.K. is part of the E.U. and they try to share licenses!!

I remember that they wrote about the evaluation process ( how to get the German license).

If you want to work in a hospital, your German should be good enough. There are some fields which are easier for not native speakers like O.R. , anesthesia etc..

Jobs are postet in the newspapers, you can also go online to their webpages and search for job offers. But the job market is not that good , especially in Berlin. They are looking for experienced nurses and often it is best to send in a resumee and references.

You can also email the nursing manager and ask for positions , usually they get back to you.

Some pharmaceuticals are looking for English speaking nurses for their studies .

I hope that helps a little bit!

Hi Nutella,

by the way I love your name!

I am from Germany too, and I found your articel. I wished I could write you in German but I know this is not allowed.

Thisway I have to improve my English writing , and this is also importend.

I think your article is from 2005, and I am wondering if you moved to the USA and if you recived your nursing licence in order to work here. Please let me know. Because I have also to get my florida nursing licence and maby you can tell me if it was very difficult or maby even easy to get it.

best regards,

if you choose California state or New Hampshire and you get approve you dont have to take TOEFL (english proficiency test) but as in any state you have to take NCLEX test if you want to practice nursing here.

So pick a state that doesn't require all steps:)) will be easier....Massachusetts believe me is a pain!! They require a lot here.

However if applying for a work visa they will need a English exam for visa screen certificate. Also if endorsing the state can still ask for a English exam if that is part of their requirements

o I forgot that she needs a work visa...too bad:))
