Hey! Thanks for thinking of this. I did join upon someone else's recommendation. There is a preceptor list and I've contacted everyone from it pretty much without success! I understand why programs don't want to do this--it's a ton of stress and time--but it is soooo anxiety producing for students. Personally I would gladly pay an extra oh ANY amount of money for this to have been set up for me! :)
Best of luck!
Some things to try:
1. Go to the local APN association meetings and meet potential preceptors in person.
2. Bring your resume to every primary care office you can find and ask to speak to the practice manager if available, especially the smaller offices.
3. Use your contacts from your work: get word out that you are looking for a preceptor.
4. Talk to alums from the program and find out who they used.
5. Pressure your program to assist you.
Hang in there.

Hey Everyone,
I'm looking for a preceptor in the DC, Virginia, Maryland area beginning this September through mid November within a pediatric, OB, or adult rotation. I can use an NP or MD. I have been having an extremely difficult time and I'm feeling very frustrated. I go to George Washington University for my FNP and while it is an excellent program it does not coordinate the clinical sites for you. I have called dozens of people without any success. Just trying to use every resource possible at this point so I wanted to reach out on here too. If anyone can help me I would be eternally grateful (and I'm not above bribes at this point!).
Thank you all!
:)
