Hey all just wondering about how to go about becoming an MD once I'm done with my NP. I'm not sold on the idea but am just playing around with it and would like some advice as to how I would go about it after I graduate in May. Any info provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance everyone.

The easy way to become an MD after you finish your NP is to to take the MCAT, apply and be accepted to a medical school, and then complete such a program. Voila!

Agree with above. You would need to attend 4 years of medical school. There are no shortcuts if you want a legitimate MD degree that is accepted in all 50 states. I personally know of a NP colleague who finally graduated this year after finishing 4 years of medical school and is now a PGY1 Resident in Internal Medicine while in her late 40's.

Plenty of nurses do go on to medical school (my father was one, many decades ago), but there are no shortcuts or special considerations for nurses, even advanced practice nurses. You'll need to complete the standard med school prerequisities, ace the MCAT, and apply to med school with everyone else.

Best wishes!
