what to do now

I surrendered my right to practice as RN in AZ and hold a Iowa RN lisc. I have no stips or regs but it shows discipline I was accused as a Traveler of Diversion but didn't and I didn't have the means to fight it. Now I'm unemployed any suggestions

If you surrendered your AZ license it's very likely the BON in Iowa will find out. I think most states require you to report if you've been disciplined in another state.

Are you looking for suggestions for employment or for how to deal with your licensing issues?

If you are looking to deal with the licensing issues it depends on in what state you now reside and where you are intending on practicing. The above poster hit the nail on the head, you'll want to report this to Iowa, and if you are going to practice in Iowa you'll want to see if you can get into an alternative to discipline or, if it's like my state, work directly with the board. Or, if you are wanting to practice in AZ you'll want to contact that board about reinstatement. We can't give legal advice so I would suggest at least speaking with an attorney who is specializes in licensing issues. Usually a consult is free. I used an attorney to aid me in how to speak to the board and investigator and then went before them independently, but then, I did do what they accused me of. So if you are honest in saying that you didn't so anything I'd definitely be concerned with doing everything possible to fight it because the money spent now will be less than money lost in not practicing. If you did divert, like me, then the programs the board mandates can be challenging but in the long run has saved my career and gave me a push in the direction of recovery.

if you are looking for advice on employment, remember that you hold a two or four year degree. You can work in any public health position that asks for "a degree in public health or similar degree". My state doesn't require those with a public health degree to be licensed, thus that's what I did while I was sorting out my nursing license.

Th yes it was for employment. The Iowa board is ware They arentmakong medo anything right now. I'm not a addict I was set up for failure and then railroaded. I just need to work and being a traveler not a optionanymore

Hi. Why did you surrender your licenses? I have been unemployed for 3 months, while I wait for IPN stipulations. I already know I am being recommended for inpatient treatment. In the meantime, I'm staying clean, going to NA and working the steps. I have applied everywhere for a non licensed position without any luck. I am hopeful something will come along. Good luck!

Not any stips or regs imposed iowa already aware. Just cant seem to get hired. Blackballed so to speak. I had a choice of revoke or surrender so I surrendered. I'm no addict. I was railroaded. Iowa bon says I can work in Iowa with no issues. I would just have to a apply for each state and see what thier bon says.
