Apr 21, 20179 yr Our hospital just got 4 novii wireless monitors however we have many more laboring rooms...how does your workplace ensure the pods dont get lost?
Apr 21, 20179 yr I'll be interested in any responses, as we will be purchasing two of these hopefully next month. My plan is that the base is not going to stay in the labor room, but will live somewhere safe (probably my office) and be checked out by the nurse and returned as soon as the woman delivers.
May 3, 20179 yr We have 2 of them. When they are not in use, they are in a cabinet at the nurses station and the base is plugged in so that the battery is ready to go for the next patient. We have had them for a while and we have never had a lost pod...knock on wood...

May 4, 20179 yr They are helpful...for the most part. We have a joke on our unit that Monica (the brand of device) can be a very fickle creature. When it works, it is amazing. I just used one the other night on a laboring natural patient and it was great. She was able to get in the shower and get on the ball without me worrying about finding baby every few minutes. Sometimes it doesn't work and I am not really sure why. The one thing that I don't like is that sometimes decels, especially variables, look funny, again, I am not sure why. That being said, I am glad that we have them to use. They are great.
May 4, 20179 yr Have you noticed a correlation between how well it works and the patient's BMI? My understanding is that it works better on high BMI patients, and if there is not a lot of abdominal adipose, the signal is not as good.
May 9, 20179 yr Author what kind of cabinet do you have at the nurses station? we already lost a pod i think it was thrown out by accident ...
May 13, 20179 yr The cabinet is behind the desk in our nurses station. We have a bin for each of our two Novii monitors that has all of the parts in it. This is where we also keep our basket of essential oils. We have made it a habit to put it back pretty much as soon as it comes off of the patient. The cabinet has outlets inside so they stay plugged in at all times. We have not had any issues with missing pods by doing this.
