Nova Southeastern entry BSN program

Hey guys!

I'm planning on applying for the Fall 2012 BSN program at Nova ( Ft. Myers campus) I will be done with my pre reqs by Dec 11'. The only thing i don't have done is Chem! Can you guys please share GPAs if accepted to program, did recommendation letters matter? What is the topic on the essay? And any other info that can help in any way! PLEASE

Hello and welcome to the site.

I moved this thread to the FL Nursing Programs Discussion forum where I think you will receive more responses.

I would definitely suggest getting the chemistry done before you apply. I have been frequently speaking to someone in the nursing department about the admission process. The information I got from her was there is no longer an interview process, so there is no essay needed. Also the required GPA is 3.0, she explained how some people with a 3.8 GPA have been denied because their prereqs were not completed on time. As for the letters of recommendations, it is required as part of your application. Hope this helps, bet of luck!

Thank you so much! I didn't know that the essay was no longer required. Chem is the only pre req I'm missing, I spoke with someone from the program at NOVA and she said it was ok to apply without the class just as long as I'm in the process of taking it. My GPA is not so great it's a 3.2 but I have plenty of health care experience and hopefully the recomendation letters help.

Hi! Could people who are already in Nova's program tell me how it's like? Is it extremely hard or does it just require a lot of time and studying? Thanks

You should check the current Forum for the Nova January Entry for 2012...There is a handful of information you will find. Best of Luck.

Where is the forum, I can not find it. Thanks so much.

Hey RNtobe,

I was recently accepted into the program for the 2012 Winter term but declined my seat. There is no longer an interviewing process, but yet there in fact is an essay portion and its pretty much one of those 'why do you want to be a nurse' type essays. Nothing major, it's extremely easy. But I wouldn't dare slack off on it because, Nova's application process is not like the majority of other schools, they don't ask for an entrance exam (i.e. teas, or hesi). Because of the no entrance exam, they look heavily upon grades, recommendation letters, and your essay.

Essentially, it is okay to apply to the program while still being in the process of taking but just know that those who have finished their pre-reqs prior to submitting their application have more of a chance of getting in; not saying that you won't get in, I'd just like for you to be mindful of that.

Don't want to scare you, I just want you to be prepared for whatever and like Juliansmom suggested, look at the link she provided. It's very helpful. There's quite a few links for Nova's BSN program for the Winter 2012 term, just browse through the forums and you'll find them because they're still ongoing.

Really hope this helps!!!

Let me know if you have any other questions too, I'll be glad to answer them to the best of my ability :yeah:

The program is NOT hard. There is a lot of reading and studying, but that's what nursing is all about :)
