Not sure if this is the right move

 I am a new PN still studying for boards. I was hired to work in a girls group home as an LPN (they know have have not taken borads yet) It is only 3 hours per week. I don't know if there will be anyone to guide me through the first few days. There will only be 8 girls in this home setting, they are mostly abused (I can handle that). I am not sure if this is where I should be. HELP!:icon_roll

Hi and welcome. Did you want something this part-time? Will this give you enough experience?

I am still looking for something else, but I hurt myself being a NA in a hospital and did not want to work Med-Surg. I figured this opportunity would give me a foot on the door to a specialty area. They are considering me to work in another group home as well. I am home with a 2 year old so this gets me out of the house a little besides they are paying $25 ph. Do you think it is a waist of time?

Nothing that leads to experience is a waste of time, in my opinion. You'll get to see how they handle the patients regarding medications, picking up orders, etc.

No, no - I was just questioning the 3 hours/week. However, I see where that would fit in with your life.

Any nursing experience is, quite frankly, much better than no experience!
