Just got hired to a new job but the manager who hired me is no longer with the hospital. During my interview my new boss was in there but apparently I was not her choice to be hired. Anyone else experience something like this?

So do you still have the job? If so, I wouldn't sweat it too much. If the now-manager is new to the position she's going to have other things on her plate than just you. Just be yourself.
No she didn't say it to my face found out inadvertently through to people who were talking about it. I think she headed one dept. but now does this one too.
Oh sorry I also still have the job.

Then pretend you never heard that she didn't want you (if she didn't say it to you, it is gossip). Go in with a great attitude, bust your best work out, and make her glad you are there.

Be especially careful. My husband was hired for a job because he came out number one on the list of eligibles, but his boss wanted his girlfriend for the job. Just shy of the end of my husband's initial probationary period, he was canned. Since you now know that you were not the pick of your boss, you are forewarned to be extra careful. Good luck. Hope you are able to convince her that she got a good pick regardless.

gossip is dangerous. Pretend you did not hear and do your best.

I am in similar situation. At first I felt offended that someone didn't think I was worth hiring. I have not let on to anyone that I knew. I proceeded to work, busted my butt and have been able to prove I can not only do the job but do it well. The manager that didn't want me gives me kudos and says he is so glad I am there. However, I still believe that he would prefer someone else and hopes I fail. This drives me to excel. I also recommend not letting on EVER that you know. But use that knowledge to kick butt! Good Luck!
Thanks for all the advice. It has really lit a fire in me to prove myself.
