I'm in mhy second semester of nursing school med/surg to be specific, and we just had our 2nd test I did ok for the most part, I feel like Im studying the way Im supposed to I read I take notes in class and at home but when I take the test some of the stuff on the test was not discussed in class nor in the chapters pertaining to that area. I know that some things we just have to think about and they're not necessarily going to be in the book, but I don't know how to study for that. Is that even normal for the teacher to go over so much info and not put it on the test. I don't know maybe it's just their way of trying to prepare us.

Perfectly normal because she's not just "teaching to the test" to prepare you for NCLEX, but she also needs you to be aware and familiar of other things be it pt care related or patho related that will affect you more once you become a nurse.

Oh yes, its normal, very common in fact in my school. Well I don't know if this helps but I read, my med/surg, and do medication sheets, also if your instructor gives you articles to read, read them, and if they give you website use them. Everything you have time to utilize will help.
