checkoff nightmare
So we had our ostomy checkoff today. I feel so horrible because I failed it. We did it in groups of three so I was the first one to go I was so nervous first we had to transfer the mannequin to the chair oh by the way we were also being checked off on that. So I get started I'm teaching the client and I'm doing everything right but toward the end I realized that I didn't have gloves on I immediately I didn't even try to put them on because I was finished but I did tell her. My problem is that we never had a chance to practice I was so nervous I guess because I was first to go. Also I don't think its fair because another member forgot to apply skin prep and nothing was said, plus our instructor was cuing them the whole way she would say stuff like are you finished are you sure anything else you want to do. I know she could of cued me just abit being that it was my first time doing it but then again I realize that gloves are probably the most important thing to do. And now the whole entire class knows that I failed and I feel horrible. She said that I did everything fine but gloves are very important. just wanted to vent. Has anyone ever felt this way like how could I forget something that minor and cause me to fail.

students who don't seem to study and do so well
omg trilldayz,sn i wish i was like you i feel like i have to be reading all the time, i always feel guilty if i'm out doing something and i'm not reading but im just not that gifted. i do have a friend that hardly studies and passes everytime, im by no means jealous of anyone who can pull that off, i do sometimes get frustrated though because i feel like i should be doing better since im studying my butt off.

Ironing your Scrubs
I used to work at a dental office and never ironed my scrubs but I feel like I have to look presentable at clinicals so I iron them the night before, but not everyone likes to iron i guess if you take them out of the dryer right away and put them on a hanger they will look fine

is it normal??
I'm in mhy second semester of nursing school med/surg to be specific, and we just had our 2nd test I did ok for the most part, I feel like Im studying the way Im supposed to I read I take notes in class and at home but when I take the test some of the stuff on the test was not discussed in class nor in the chapters pertaining to that area. I know that some things we just have to think about and they're not necessarily going to be in the book, but I don't know how to study for that. Is that even normal for the teacher to go over so much info and not put it on the test. I don't know maybe it's just their way of trying to prepare us.

Students with young kids...how are you handling it?
I felt the same way when I started, I felt so bad because I had to put my 8mth old in day care, and i felt like i was missing out on some of her milestones, but I know that what I'm doing will benefit her in the long run. What I did was set up a routine I would take her to daycare @730 and pick her up around 5 by that time she would be cranky and ready for a nap. While she napped for 2 hrs I would get alot of my work done, it is crucial to have a routine I don't think I would of made it without one, clinical assignment pickup days I would take her to my moms or sister until I finished my care plans it's important to have that support sytem I thank them so much, now Im in med/surg 1 and I still have my routine and im doing fine in the class..just stay positive it will get better and good luck..
