Non compete clauses?

Specialties Travel

Published

I am currently with a company that has a clause that I cannot work with another company at the hospital I am at for at least one year after I leave their employment. I would like to stay at this hospital, but after having spoken with other travelers there, I find that they are making $9-10/hr more than my agency is paying me.

Can I go with another agency to do a new contract at this hospital without my current agency finding out?

Do agencies REALLY keep track of past employees that closely?

Thanks,

Trish

It's not just you that signed the non-compete clause- the hospital that hired you as a traveler has also agreed with your travel company not to hire you on as regular staff for a year- if they do, they face financial penalties. The only way this might work is if the hospital you are at is willing to buy-out your contract with the travel company- check with your nurse manager to see if they are willing to do this....

It's not that I want to work at this hospital as a regular staff, I just want to change agencies and get a better deal when my current contract runs out.

I still think the non-compete clause would apply if you were wanting to take an assignment at the same hospital but with a different travel company.

You may ask your company for a waiver allowing you to work their. I ask for and received promission to work at the facility as staff.

I currently extended with another company and worked at same facility now. However make sure that the company are not sister companies.

demand a raise from your current company to renew, and also ask for a bonus. I did receive a bonus for one assignment after learning I was making a few bucks less an hour than other nures. I didn't need to renew because I was going some place else. Make sure you get a bonus for resigning too.
