No Work Experience

I am in need of someone to shed some light on my current situation. I am a Nurse who has passed the Philippine Nurse's licensure exam and NCLEX. I am currently residing here in the Philippines. I have applied to various hospitals for the past months but it's taking a toll on my sanity by the moment. To my dismay, I haven't been hired yet, even volunteer positions are not available and there is also an existence of a BACKER system in the Philippines, wherein you need to KNOW someone to GET somewhere. I am getting desperate here. I need at least 6 months of work experience in order to work abroad but considering the situation, I am still waiting. I need someone's advice. What should I do? I am willing to work anywhere, may it be in the Philippines or any other country. Thank you for your time. I'll greatly appreciate it.

I heard Australia needs nurses. You may want to try your luck there. Most other countries want you to have paid experience to consider you. I also heard that they are hiring in the Middle East. My friend worked in Dubai awhile back. Good Luck

Australia really needs experienced and specialist nurses,, but on saying that they seem to still be getting jobs, when others cannot.

thank you for your replies. There are different countries offering job opportunities to nurses WITH experience. So I was wondering if these countries also give opportunities to new nurses with no work experience yet. Also, if these countries are lenient in giving visas, so to speak.

newlygradBSN: we have the same situation except that i did not take nclex yet. anyway, just pass your resume to hospitals and wait. I'm still waiting. The main thing that we need to do is to be strong. it is really disappointing and insane that passing the board is not a passport for employment. I don't have a backer as well so I'm really desperate. Maybe prayer will change everything. I'm still hoping for the best.

EU hard to get into for a work visa. UK need 12 months full time experience if I remember rightly plus job needs to be on the shortage occupation list and not many on there now

NewlygradBSN:never lose hope. we have the same situation except that i had my volunteer training first before i took & passed my nclex exam. we are all aware that the 'backer' system in our country is essential to secure a nurse position--or even a volunteer nurse position but don't despair because there are still lots of other hospitals. you might want to try afp medical center & gat andres bonifacio memorial medical center, this is where i got my nursing trainings--and good thing this hospitals don't have training fees. be patient--i renewed my license 3 months ago...it's been three years since i passed the local board yet i'm still WAITING for my pending applications at PGH & the AFP. i strongly suggest you focus on getting a job-related experience. i know you can beat the odds...focus on mastering your nursing knowledge & skills...good luck!

Apply at Gat Andres Medical Center they are accpting applicants for trainees now. Dec. 9 is the deadline. The training is free .
