NMC Test Online

Anybody here who took the Pearsons Vue NMC exam? How was it? TY!

The exam is a joke! I am a Canadian trained nurse and have been practicing for 3 years, I felt the CRNE exam was much harder than this exam yet I passed that and failed this one. I believe the essential questions need to be done away with because you will learn the specific laws for the UK while working in the system. These questions do not assess how competent a nurse you are! Seems like another way for the NMC to pull money out of people, their whole system needs to be reviewed as I'm not approaching 2 years of being in the application process due to their previous application process (Overseas Nurses Programme) or lack there of, because I never found any placements for it!! All I'd say in to review the legal aspects of nursing in the UK becaus eif you're a competent nurse the patho and nursing assessment questions will be a breeze!!

I feel you. Everybody has the same problems. Whew

Gen88, thank you for posting those complaint links. I will definitely be emailing both of them. Hopefully if enough of us do, some reform will come from it. It stinks it's now the holidays, because I feel like it's not going to help the NMC's already very slow response times.

Happy holidays guys

Anyone registered for the second time?

Also, when you guys did the practice questions online - where you able to see if you got them right or not? A pass score! All I see is delivery successful ....

Anyone registered for the second time?

As of present, none of my colleagues are able to re schedule for take 2 even if the have already received the 2nd Att

After failing my first attempt at the test of competence I emailed the NMC in hopes of getting more information. I wanted to know if the critical questions were supposed to be shown and I also wanted to let them know how unhelpful I found the blueprint hoping that they would lead me to additional study materials…or at least give me some guidance on how to be successful for take two. This is the reply I got today…(still feeling discouraged):

the blueprints that we have provided on our website are the only revision materials that we hold. The contents of the exam have to remain confidential to maintain the integrity of the test. The CBT is a competency test that tests if a nurse meets the standards in order to apply to the UK register.

In regards to your query about critical questions, we have removed the indication of critical questions from the test to keep the integrity of the test. Therefore please be aware that the critical questions will not be marked in the test.

Humm.. If I remember correctly, there was a person here who had their critical questions marked, and after reading their reply I can't help but feel annoyed as they made the change without notice and every reply they have me seemed to imply that they are just being "fair" as opposed to the scenario cited.. For the record being inconsistent hardly justifies fair and I would at least want a refund or a free second take when the bugs have been ironed out.

It's a complete joke. And the worse part is that I feel our voices are getting ignored/lost in the paperwork with that email address. From reading that response, it sounds exactly like mine - generic.

And why can't we register for the 2nd time?!

exactly! It is a generic answer and she didn't really address anything at all. It is inconsistent….anyone else really feeling like a Guinea pig right about now?? I trained as nurse in the United States but I'm already living in the UK (moved here recently after getting married) so I just feel stuck in this system. I honestly don't know what to do. Does anyone in here know of options for foreign trained nurses already living in the UK? …Or is the NMC route my only choice, haha?
