I'm sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere -- I can't even find the thread I started on it a few weeks ago.
I'm scheduled to take the NLN-PAX on 6/5 for admission into an RN program. I see lots of info on the NET, etc., but nothing on the PAX.
I am buying the study guide today but any insight/info anyone who has perhaps taken this test can offer would be GREATLY appreciated.
I am completely freaked out!

I took it on 4-11
Yeah get the study guide. When you go to your location they give you a log-in key (so that way they know youre at the site) its on the computer but youre still able to go back and correct any mistakes if you have the time, or MARK the questions you want to come back to.
English, learn your roots -- Its either you know it or you dont, no use going crazy on that one. You have enough time, I think in the beginning of that study guide it tells you how to prepare for each.
Math, decimals percents is over of, = percent over 100 (do you remember that one?)
I had at least 5 questions that were to the effect of What is 20 percent of N (is over of equals % over 100)
I had A LOT of physics questions and Ive never taken physics. I had no idea what a Newton was, yet this other girl taking the test had a lot of bio questions (shouldve had her seat)
There is no pass fail, you get your results right away after the test. You get to see how well you did in comparison to other students who took the test.
I suck at math, and I did better than 80%. LOL So im guessing that Math isnt any future nurses forte' I guess
Good luck, you can dooooooo ittttttttt
Oh yeah and if this makes you feel better, you answer something like 70 questions but they grade 40 of them.

I took the NLN back in February and while I thought that it was still hard, I did better than I thought I did. My weakest part was math. It is a lot of fractions and percentages, plus some basic algebra as well. If you're good at vocab, the english part should be a piece of cake. The science covers biology, chemistry, physics, and A&P. The study guide is great because it definitely lets you know what to expect, however I would say if there is one area that you are particularly weak in, it might also be good to get like a cliffs notes study guide in that subject as well. I took my test with the old paper and pencil method and got my tests results in the mail about 2 weeks later. Good luck and try not to freak out too much. Spend some time studying beforehand and you'll be just fine!! Let us know how it goes when you take your test! :nuke:
Thanks to both of you -- I have three weeks after this semester's finals before summer classes start, to study. And I am going to really buckle down...
I'll be sure and post how it goes.

Can you buy the study guide at Barnes & Noble? Or do you have to get it online somehwere?
You can probably buy it online but the college bookstore carries it so it's easier to get it there (for me).
i got mine at the mall ..buying online is good but u gotta wait for shipping and those are precious days
My Barnes and Noble had quite a few in stock. I believe if you go to the B&N website you can see if it's in at the stores closet to you. Good luck!!

I have a lot of study guides that I'm happy to give away. I have a copy of the NLN review guide (the beige book for the RN Pre-Entrance Exam/aka NLN-PAX) in good condition. The only writing in the book are corrections to errors in the text—tiny amounts on 2 or 3 pages at most. (I didn't write on the practice exams at all.) I also have the NLN review guide for the LPN/LVN Pre-Entrance Exam, which is exactly the same in the review section as the RN book, but different in the sample tests sections (it's the green NLN review guide). I got it for the extra practice exams, and I was glad I did when I took the actual exam in March. I also have the Cliffs Test Prep Nursing School Exam book, which covers the science review topics in more depth. I also have the Barron's Nursing School Entrance Exams book, which I got for the sciience review as well. It covers the A&P well, as I recall, plus osmosis and other bio stuff. I have never taken A&P or Physics, and took Bio over 30 years ago—got 52/60 on the science section and owe it to these books! Whoever wants the books (over $100 worth) can have them for free—you just have to arrange and pay for the shipping/pickup. You can send me a private message if you're interested. I live with my family of five in a Brooklyn apartment and they're taking up too much space! Good luck!
P.S. Also have Learning Express Nursing School Entrance Exam book, but I didn't use it. It has a CD-rom in it that I never looked at, so I don't know what it is.

I just took the NLN-PAX I was worried to death about the science section because of physics and chemistry questions. The overall test was not too hard. I used two study guides and studied for about a week. I just recieved my score and I scored a 132. Thank goodness my school only requires a 96....Yipppeee, I will be glad to help anyone out who has questions about the test or if you are interested in the study guides I have two that anyone is welcome to have, I can just mail them out. I hope this helps someone out there who is worried about the test.
Congratulations! That's a really good score!

Anyone else took the NLN PAX recently? How was it?
I am looking to take the test soon.
I know I maybe late, but knitknit and Nursingstudent71505 do you still have those books to give away? Or any other helpful books that you can pass along.
Thanks so much.
