I agree with you. I love reading the posts and hearing what everyone has to say. I can't wait to be one of the people that have the knowledge to help others on here. I too am a new RN and start my new job on a Med/Surg floor on the 23rd, lol. Who knows...maybe we are at the same hospital. I am sooo nervous. Luckily, I got hired by the hospital that I really wanted to work at. They seem to be really good with training new nurses. Good luck and let us know how you like it.
This is a great thread, and I've also been sifting through this forum like crazy - I graduated with my BSN this past May, and I also start on a surgical floor next week. Like the rest of you, I'm excited and terrified (I'm trying to preemptively come up with a good organizational system before I start). I'm sure in the coming weeks we'll all be comparing notes, as well as hopefully getting some sanity checks from the pro veteran med-surg nurses here.
Olliesmommy-- congratulations! You certainly must have impressed somebody!! Many of my classmates are having a really hard time obtaining employment. My heart really goes out to them because they are all exceptional nurses. I wish you luck in your new position. Happy birthday too! It's right around the corner! Alibee-- congratulations to you as well! I'm so glad to meet people in the same situation. This was actually something I was hoping for. Everybody keeps telling me that I need a good support system. Nobody fully understands what nurses go through unless they are a nurse or have been a nurse before.
