I might be a few days early. My New Year's Resolution is to keep trying to get that first RN job that has so eluded a lot of us. I've re-re-re-tweaked my resume and have started applying to places I've researched out of state, but hadn't yet applied too. Now I know some places I've applied to the past few weeks might not even start calling until after Jan 1st. I did have an interview for Couplet Care last Monday, but I'm not putting all my eggs into that one basket so to speak. I should hear something this week about that job, but I'm going to continue to apply for jobs until I know I have something somewhere. There is one place I keep applying to though that I really would like to know why I can't even get an interview. I mean, if you meet the qualifications for the job shouldn't you at the very least get an interview?
Here is hoping the New Year becomes a good one for us New RN's. It would be very nice if that first week most of places I've applied to would call.

You may have already done this, but if not. ....Be persistent with these people....calll every other day at least. Sell yourself, request at least an interview. Oh, if you knew what all I did to obtain my wonderful job. I wouldn't lay off. I guess they got tired of hearing me call and finally hired me. LOL, it worked ! I guess they realized that if you want something bad enough, you''ll go after it teeth and nail.
I called one nurse recruiter every other day asking for an update on my application. I finally got one of those emails stating they decided to go ahead with another canidate. Well, IMO if she had bothered to return my calls and emails (when she was the one who emailed me) I might have at least snagged an interview. I REALLY hate it when I get one of those "dear john" emails without so much as an interview. I just got one for a unit I am definately qualified for, just need a telemetry refresher.
I do hope that some of the problem has been applied so close to the end of the year and next week I'll be indundated with calls. Also, I can't change my resume anymore. It is, what it is.
One thing I am getting tired of is seeing new grad positions or graduate nurse positions and they are for BSN new grads only. Fortunately I've only seen that in one state, one I wouldn't mind at least considering.
