New and need some advice

Specializes in midwifery.

hi to all. I must say that this site is wonderful and its what i needed at the right time. I am new to America. I am a licenced midwife and got my BSc from Europe. I worked in UK and now I am in NY. When I did my course evaluation with WES, they said that I have an equivalent american BSN with specialization in midwifery. Does anybody know whether I have to do some schooling again or I can do NCLEX. It seems like nobody knows exactly which path I need to take. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks :innerconf

Welcome to the site

The only way forward is to go through CVS with NY and they will decide whether you meet their RN requirements. Info found here http://www.cgfns.org You are looking at approx 8 month process before being able to sit the exam and work as a RN

Moved to the International forum

NY actually requires the CVS, and they do not accept anything else. Even though you have had your training evaluated, you will need to have it done again with this process.

But looks like you will not have any issues being able to get permission to sit for the NCLEX exam. if you wish to get it done in an earlier time frame, you can go for licensure thru another state and then just endorse to NY when the CVS is completed. You are required to have the CVS to endorse as well.

Best of luck to you.
