New Job

Hi! I just heard about this board recently and loved it so I just joined. I wished to share a recent experience of mine. After 25 years of working at the same hospital and watching things go downhill and experiencing terrible burnout I seriously contemplated leaving nursing. I finally had it and handed in my resignation and took a month off. In the meantime I got a job much closer to home, in Home Hospice. I love it and I'm so glad I didn't leave nursing!! So I guess the grass is sometimes greener elsewhere.

I was at one hospital for 10 years. It is where I went after graduation. After moving, and having to drive about 35 minutes, and being comfortable there(even though I was miserable)...I left. I took 1 month off and got a job 5 minutes from home. It was the best thing that happened.

Being forced into a change is sometimes the best thing.

I've been doing some PRN work at a hospice facility. I also love it and sometimes consider doing it full time. My other job is in labor and delivery...( both ends of the spectrum) I am so tired, and often feel burnt out. It's just the jumping from experience to non experience and afraid of getting locked into something else. Nusing I love, but it does stress me so!

Congradulations on the new job. Sometimes the grass is greener.

Hello,

i hope you really enjoy your hospice job, i too did hospice for a few months and loved it buy left because of a really bad supervisor. I too quit my nursing job recently and contemplated leaving the profession but after having 6 weeks off have decided to only do hospital part time and somewhere else per diem. Good luck to all.
