New to IPN Florida

Nope, I was recommended to do IOP and luckily found a program that was "only" 4 weeks long from 9-12, Mon-Fri.

Are you in FL? Was this recent?

If possible try to find an evaluator who is independent from an inpatient treatment facility. Almost all evaluations done by providers connected to a inpatient clinic will recommend their services.

If you can start a IOP before your evaluation that would be great. It shows you are concerned and already taking steps towards your recovery.

Thank you... I made that mistake not knowing the consequences. I went for the evaluation and pushed his facility all the way. IPN has allowed me a second eval; however, the 2 out of the 3 doctors own their own facilities. The 3rd one is considerably more expensive and really far away but she is not affiliated with any facility. I'm gong to take my chances on her. I know I screwed up and I have own it. I need and am willing to get the help but I feel the first eval was biased.

I'd my iop in July and am currently in aftercare which ends this month. I signed my IPN contract in October.

It should be illegal to have evaluations where they have a treatment program- I have heard so many nightmare stories about Hazelden, and my own experience was outright threats that a persons livelihood is on the line...

I completed IOP after going to a facility that only offered IOP

What makes matters worse is that I was lied to. The doctor told me he wasn't affiliated with any facility and come to find out, after the eval, he is the medical director AND the MRO at the facility. He straight up took my money, lied to me, and has since refused to send me a copy of my eval. I'm going to take me chances with a second eval even though she is 4 hrs from my house and more expensive. I can't find anywhere that she owns or is associated with an IP facility.

Did you work for a hospital system? If so. .what about seeing someone from the behavioral health dept.? That's what I did while I still had insurance. Heck, she even had to reschedule me so she could find out how to do the evaluation. ..but she did it and the program accepted it. I basically told her what I thought was reasonable and she agreed. (Counseling 1-2 times per week..no IOP. But my contract only requires counseling 1-2 times per month).

Ah yes, another mirror of my own experience. I went to the only one of the listed evaluators that did not reject me out of hand. The ones that did, did so on the grounds that they could not provide the services i needed. That's because my issues are behavioral health, not drugs/alcohol. The one I went to was of course the MRO/Director and what was recommended was, of course available at his facility for 30-odd thousand dollars. That marked my descent into a 6 month mind (insert naughty word here) of in and outpatient "treatment." I am now 16 months into the 5 year sentence that I was handed on the basis of this shady outfits recommendation. All i can say is "if i only knew." But then. who really knows about this stuff until its too late.

That it should be illegal to be sent for evals at places that also have treatment programs is incredibly true. As I see it, it is another thing that makes me wonder if there is some monetary connection between IPN and the places they send people to for this stuff. I was never told (and sadly was so terrorized about the whole thing) that i could have had some say in where i went for the evaluation.

I am so looking forward to the day that this nightmare comes to an end, in 44 months and 18 days, but whose counting :-)
