hey guys, I have been casually browsing this site for a few months now, and felt like I should introduce myself. I'm currently a pre-nursing student and am also taking my CNA class this semester. I've read all sorts of stories from good and bad experiences, and thought I'd share my first experience on my path to nursing.
So in my CNA class we're pretty close to going to clinicals, and one of the instructors advised us to go ahead and get materials like our scrubs. I decided it was a good idea, and being that it was pay day, mine as well. I went to a local uniform outlet, and it's rather pretty small building. When I walked in there were about 5-6 girls close to my age there talking with an older female cashier, and being that it was a small building, when I walked in a bell sound at the door went off and their conversation paused as they looked at me entering the room. So 5 cute girls looking my way and i just glance a smile back at the group and quickly dart to a section acting like I knew exactly what I was looking for and trying not to seem too green? Their group continued talking and about 5minutes into it the cashier stopped them and asked me if I needed help finding anything. So i tell her I'm actually looking to purchase my first set of scrubs, and at this responce the female crowd lets out the "aww's and oohhhs", and the cashier said something along the lines that I looked like I needed help considering I was in the extra small section for women...and that I gave it away when I was holding up scrub tops to my chest to see if they'd fit (my shoulders are the size of a bus, literally so I'm sure visually it was quite a site)...I was just picking up the ones without teddy bears and hearts on them, but, they sure got a kick out of it

Even though I'm a female, I still wanted to warmly welcome you!

You got that alot being a guy in a nursing. When the uniform people for my BSN program came and measured us they "forgot" to bring any male shoes for us to try on and buy and he said they had some at the store if I wanted to come by. A few weekends later I went by (about an hour away) to their store and low and behold...they don't even carry mens shoes! The only scrubs that they have for males are camo or some funky pastel color. At least our uniforms are navy blue scrubs, but if you want to expand your selection you probably have to go online.

The teddy bear scrubs didn't give it away that you were in the womens section?
